Job Description

Our client is seeking a Business Development Manager to join their dynamic team as they expand operations in Zambia’s Copperbelt region. A leading engineering and project delivery company, they specialise in SMEIPP (Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Piping, and Platework) solutions, delivering high-impact projects across the Mining, Power, Oil & Gas, Water, Infrastructure, and Industrial sectors throughout sub-Saharan Africa.

This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with a strong track record in business development within the mining and energy sectors. The successful candidate will identify and secure new business opportunities, develop market-entry strategies, lead high-value project proposals, and build strong, lasting relationships with key stakeholders in the region.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field
  • A postgraduate qualification is advantageous

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of 7 years' experience in business development or sales within the mining, energy, or heavy industrial sectors
  • Deep knowledge of the Zambian mining industry and public-private procurement practices
  • Strong network across the Copperbelt’s business and government landscape
  • Demonstrated success in negotiating high-value contracts and fostering long-term partnerships

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive business development strategy tailored to the Copperbelt’s mining and energy sectors
  • Identify new business opportunities, including tenders, partnerships, and infrastructure investment opportunities
  • Build and nurture relationships with key stakeholders, including mining firms, industrial operators, public institutions, and regulatory bodies
  • Lead market intelligence efforts to monitor industry trends, competitor activity, and shifts in the regulatory landscape
  • Develop and present high-impact proposals and value-driven solutions to potential clients
  • Collaborate with engineering, legal, and finance teams to create commercially viable, client-focused service offerings
